Redemption is not the appropriate word for Shawn's run through the Coalition Cup Tournament over the past couple of months. Reclaimation was more like it. Joining the Global Wrestling Coalition had given Shawn a new lease on life in this business and he was better than he'd ever been. He was finally having the singles success that was eluding him his entire career and was finally breaking out of the shadow of his more accomplished tag team partner Big Daddy and to finally reach the place that he knew he'd always belong in the World Championship hunt as a major player in the promotion.  And just like his opponent at Global Warming Shawn was considered an unknown and an underdog.

This took way longer than it should have. I'd have planned on getting this up a week ago but some things came up and I had struggles with focus. I hope you enjoy and I should have a couple more up before it's alll said and done!

An unexpected end to a very lively and intense tournament where other men or women were pegged to run the table to get to this point in time. And this was a very pivotal match up for both of these men because for Shawn this was it and he knew it. This was his one chance to finally get over the hump and earn the ever so elusive shot at being World Heavyweight Champion that had always seemed to evade him. He was getting older now and he was not the young brash competitor who took for granted all his early success. Now older and wiser yet still with the brashness of his youth SHawn was determined and focused not to let it slip through his fingertips a second time around. This was validation for years of struggle and playing second banana to his superstar best friend Big Daddy. And you have Jake Rainwater, the rising rookie sensation who time and time again proved doubters wrong and found ways to come out victorious of matches where no one thought he'd have a fighting chance. The ultimate underdog, a true man of the people, and a real American if we've ever saw one fighting for what's right, fighting to prove himself and be the best of the best. And match after match, show after show, the one guy on the tips of everyone's tongues overcame the odds and for him this victory would legitimize him. It would for sure strap the proverbial rocket pack to his back shooting him straight to the moon. This was it. The moment of truth for Jake and he knew it. Victory was there to be had for both men for two very differing yet similiar reasons: Validation & recognition. Shawn needed this to validate his over a decade long career as one of the best talents this business had ever seen and being more than just a tag team wrestler. This was it... Jake needed this to be recognized as not just another bright young star that could flame out but to cement himself as a player, a big game player for years to come. These men were both fighting, scratching, clawing, and overcoming the odds against them these past couple of months to claim their own spot in history and most importantly greatness. And the Mile High city was the place that it would all go down.

We come into focus and we see Shawn at the Hattiesburg airport. A bags packed next to him a look of exhaustion and boredom on his face, it's never easy living the vagabond life of a professional wrestling superstar an all too familiar scene for Shawn. Oblivious to Germaine,Shawn lazily scrolls away at his phone as the afformentioned man holding the camera Shawn's good runnin' buddy Germaine speaks up as he steps infront of the camera.

Germaine:
It's game time folks, here we are on our way to Denver, we're gon' get mile high, do the damn thing, and bring that Cup home. Yo Shawn, when you beat Jakey wakey Sunday night at Global Warming, you get handed the cup, how do you want them to give you, your one hundred large brah?

Shawn perks up and flashes a sly grin as he speaks up.

Shawn Williams:
One of those gigantic oversized checks.

Germaine fails at holding  back his laughter, a child like grin on his face Shawn rubs his hand together as he continues on.

Shawn WIlliams:
Tommy Boy, Foxxxy Roxxy, whoever the hell is presenting me with the trophy and the one hundred grand I want one of those huge Publishers Clearing House checks you see on the commercials.  Make it happen. Go big or go home!

Germaine: You heard the man, Hustlers like Shawn, they do it big. So you gotta reward the man big. So relax and take notes boss man, we cash big ass checks, we want big ass checks.

Shawn Williams: HUGE!!!!!!!!!!

Germaine: GIGANTIC

Shawn WIlliams: ENOREMOUS CHECKS!!!!!!!!!

They both bust out in laughter. Patting each other on the back doubled over. Germaine straightens up and gets back behind the camera and zooms in on Shawn after their several second laughing fit. Other on lookers and passers by noticing the commotion and what's going on stare as Shawn and Germaine soldier on recording this promotional piece.

Germaine: Shawn, man, give the peeps watchin' at home, your opponent Jake Rainwater your intial thoughts on this match.

With a slight grin on Shawn's face he quickly chimes in.

Shawn Williams:
I know for a fact that someone, somewhere crazy enough to bet on pro wrestlin' is about to make a ton a of money on who the Coalition Cup winner is. That's fo' sho!

Germaine & Shawn(in unison):
Easssssssssssssy moooooooooooney!

Shawn Williams:
All for the simple fact that you got two longshots goin' at it. Helll someone already broke the bank on the both of us gettin' here. I know Vegas is kickin' themselves over allowin' folks to place bets on wrasslin'. The young  "All-American" upstart Jake Rainwater verse the grizzled ole' veteran Shawn Williams who's lookin' for just one more day in the sun. Both on the verge of making history! Banks will be busted wide open! Cha-cing!

SHawn pauses as he does the Johnny Manziel "money" hand gesture with his now all to familar cocky grin on his face as he shakes his head and then folds his arms as he continues on.

Shawn Williams:
And I wouldn't have it any other way man... All because I've had some great moments throughout my career. Dare I say memorable moments that have stuck with me. See one in perticular stands out for me and that was the GWA King of the Cage tournament for the simple fact that just like the Coalition Cup these same stakes were on the line back then. You win, you get a shot at the reigning World Heavyweight Champion in any main event match of your choosing. When you wanted! Black Paradise, one of the greatest pay-per-view events I've witnessed let alone participated in and there I was  on the cusp of greatness and just as I was about to escape the cage claim my spot in the main event in the finals, I came crashing down. Down, down, down and with it went my shot at the World Heavyweight championship. All of it, in an instance gone, and because I was so young, nieve, and brash I thought that I'd always get another shot. That I was on the verge of greatness but that chance never came, the promotions told me Shawn, we want BIg Daddy in the main event, when we need ya'll to tag, you can get your shine, how about laying low until we need you. And I played my role, I was the trusty sidekick and for the past decade and some since that picturesque Febuary night in Honolulu, Hawaii that turned into my own reoccuring nightmare it's ate at me. It's there in the back of my mind if I'd ever reach the pinnacle of this great business, this great sport we're apart of Jake. And here I am on the cusp of righting that wrong. It's not 2004 anymore and I'm older and much wiser right here and now and on September 7th, 2014 at the Pepsi Center in the heart of the Mile High City, I'm about to achieve greatness Jake, Mile High Greatness. And as much as it pains me, as much as I've agonized over it, I've got to do the one thing that I don't want to do and that's take you down to finally make my dream of being "the man" a reality.

Shawn runs his hand through his hair and lets out a laugh as he pauses briefly before continuing on.

Shawn Williams:
I was a young bright up and coming star like you once Jake, hell I thought that Shawn Williams becoming World Heavyweight Champion was inevitable, a given, I took it for granted and never realized how fleeting those chances truly can be. And it ate me watching my best friend, my ace boone coon Big Daddy, get screwed, embarassed, and humilated when he'd get all his shots at a world title for what? To waste his immense talent... All that style, all that charisma, and all wrapped in the perfect package with the prototypical size promotors drool over. He was the "it" factor and for all his talents he was left empty handed on the dreaded list of the greatest to never have done what we have a chance to do with just one more victory Jake. And he humbled himself and allowed me the one thing that he needs and so desperately desires to validate his great career and I'm standing here before you on the cusp. And I can't let this chance at redemption go unfullfilled. Not just for myself, no, no, no but for Big D.... For our fans who stuck by us the past decade and a half through all the ups and downs man and it's right there to be had. And even though you're a friend and kid you have such a bright future ahead of you it's unreal. You've got the spark, you're doin' your thing, and breaking the mold. I love it kid, totally dig it, and yet I have to do what the man who beat me did all those years ago in the cage, I have to kick you down and send you crashin' back down to earth. Because you're sky high, you're on a roll, and to get what I want I have to stop. I just have it. And so, faced with this troubling delimma Jake for the first time in my life I'm going to have to be selfish and take what I feel is mine all mine.

Shawn takes a deep breath with a troubled look on his face as he continues on.

Shawn Williams:
I'm going to have put an end to your magical run here in the Global Wrestling Coalition kid. Stop it dead in its tracks Sunday night even though deep down inside I don't want tooo I have too. It's not personal, I wish, hope, hell pray for only the best to come to you in what is a long and illustrious career for you Jake, truly I do but on this night. When we're standing across from you in the ring and the crowd's goin' crazy lets go Jake, lets go Shawn. I'm going to have to be that early speed bump on your way to inevitable greatness and for your sake I pray that your luck is better than man because that old sayin' of slow & steady winnin' the race will ring true because like I've been sayin' for the past couple months I'm the future Global Heavyweight Champion and simply put that means I'm the owner of the Coalition Cup, one hundred thousand dollars richer, and most importantly just that much better than you.

Shawn points into the camera... We hear an unfamilar female voice hit the loudspeakers.

"Flight 240 from Hattiesburg to Denver now boarding. If you are a passenger, please make your way to the terminal in a timely fashion as we will be leaving immediately in fifteen minutes. And please have your boarding passes ready as soon as you make it to the game. Thank you for playing American Airlines."

Shawn shrugs.

Shawn: Gotta go! See ya soon Jake!

With that we:

Fade to Black

OOC: One more for the road. I really look forward to what you have planned next Nate, I know you're busy with the lil' one and stuff. I enjoyed your first good luck to you too buddy.

The closer we got to Sunday night the more tense the situation was getting some would say intense. All the GWC emporers and empresses were locked in and focused as confindent as ever as the Global Wrestling Coalition was on the verge of celebrating its first anniversary and what an impact it's had creating some new household names and giving the more seasoned and familiar talents a new place to call home. This was as we all know a very big weekend for Shawn Williams, the "Iceman" cooler than the otherside of the pillow if you will more importantly a seasoned vet in this business who had fought his way through a very tough and estrogen filled half of the bracket to get to the Coalition Cup finals. Every opponent a new challenge, a different test for the grizzled old vet, and so far every single one with a great tussle was passed with flying colors. Much to the the shagrin of his fallen opponents whom were favored to win but somehow someway Shawn found away to live up to his moniker of  being a hustler getting the job done by any means possible.
